Wallpaper* Design Awards 2023 Winners

What better way to start the new year than with a prize? Cassina inaugurates 2023 with a Wallpaper* Design Award for the Flutz chair, designed by Michael Anastassiades, in the ‘Best Silhouettes’ category of the prestigious international magazine’s yearly awards. Encapsulated in the minimalist lines of Flutz is a fascinating material and structural oxymoron. Two thin parallel aluminium sheets rise up to shape its armrests, producing a rigid support that welcomes a comfortable seat which seems to float above the base. Essential and clearly defined, this construction calls to mind the poetic grace of figure skating, a sport in which precision is paired with sophistication.

The winner of the 2023 edition in the Best Sleeper Hits category is the Vibe bed signed by Carlo Colombo for Giorgetti. Designed for 2022 Collection, Vibe is the first double bed with provision for fixed bedside tables that partly recalls the design of the 1930s. Two removable shells form the headboard, which has a limited depth: a band goes around it as if it were a work of art. A poetic and romantic design capable of bringing together tradition and contemporaneity.

Blevio table by Ignazio Gardella honored at Wallpaper* Design Awards 2023, in the ‘Best Silhouettes’ category. Ignazio Gardella’s Blevio table joins Molteni&C’s Heritage Collection, inaugurating a partnership with the Gardella Historical Archive: the first episode of a relationship based on research and exchange, destined to develop over the years to come. In 2015 Milan’s Galleria d’Arte Moderna, restructured by Gardella himself, hosted the exhibition on Molteni&C’s 80 years in the furniture business.
